The Last Mile is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering justice-impacted individuals through education and career development. Offering coding programs and reentry services, The Last Mile (TLM) has long supported participants on their journey to reintegrate into society. To strengthen internal processes and better support its teams, TLM partnered with Everday to bring structure and clarity to workforce development. For Aisha Leach, Chief People Officer, this collaboration is introducing tools to address skill gaps and plan for growth.
From Guesswork to Clarity: Why TLM Needed a Change
When Aisha joined TLM, she quickly recognised a gap in the organisation’s ability to assess and develop skills. Managers lacked the tools to understand their teams’ capabilities, and there was no formalised process for identifying growth areas or skill gaps.

The lack of visibility into skills made it difficult for managers to assess teams and identify gaps. TLM wanted to create a clearer picture of employees’ strengths and areas for growth, ensuring managers could support development and align roles more effectively. Everday offered a structured solution with data-driven insights.
Building a Workforce Aligned to TLM’s Mission
TLM’s mission is to empower individuals through growth and opportunity. Everday’s platform aligns seamlessly with this goal by enabling employees and managers to visualise skills, identify gaps, and focus on areas for improvement.
“We wanted a way to see where employees excel and where they need support,” Aisha shared. “Everday is helping us make that vision a reality.”
This shared vision has become a key part of TLM’s strategy for internal development, ensuring that its teams are equipped to meet the organisation’s goals.
Rolling Out Everday: Creating a Foundation for Growth
The rollout began with two teams at TLM, focusing on creating skill passports, by uploading job descriptions, and completing self-assessments. Employees achieved an impressive 100% completion rate, providing managers with immediate insights into current strengths and areas for improvement.
Managers used Everday’s dashboards to map skills across their teams and identify areas for targeted support.
“Our employees really like the platform. It’s intuitive and shows them exactly where they stand and what they can work on,” Aisha said.
With this foundation, TLM is building a scalable approach to workforce development that supports its teams in meeting both their personal and organisational objectives.
A Partnership That Responds to Real Needs
Everday worked closely with TLM throughout the rollout process, scheduling frequent feedback calls and making adjustments to ensure the platform met their unique needs.
“The Everday team has been incredibly responsive,” Aisha said. “They’ve listened to our feedback and made changes that have made the platform even better for us.”
This collaborative approach is helping TLM integrate Everday seamlessly into their operations while preparing for broader adoption across the organisation.
Early Wins: How Everday is Transforming TLM’s Workforce
Although still in its early stages, Everday is already driving measurable change at TLM:
- Skill mapping in action: Through 100% participation in self-assessments, TLM collected valuable data on employee skills, strengths, and gaps, providing managers with actionable insights.
- Streamlined processes: Automating skill assessments has replaced manual tracking, saving significant time and effort.
- Improved visibility: Managers now have clear insights into team capabilities, enabling them to align development plans with organisational goals effectively.
Looking ahead, TLM plans to train managers on leveraging Everday for ongoing development planning and extend its use across the organisation to create a fully integrated approach to growth.
A Roadmap for Long-Term Success
Together, The Last Mile and Everday are building a structured, data-driven approach to workforce development—one that empowers employees to reach their full potential while advancing TLM’s mission to transform lives.
